Easing Into The New Year

So far the first couple of weeks have been ok. Work been busy as we have been doing prototypes for the show in Birmingham which opens this Sunday. I don't think I've ever known it to be so chaotic as it has been regarding protos. They didn't know what was going until last minute and then becomes a rush. At least that is done now and begins the catching up at work as it has put us behind with all the production, we have been here before!

Still not been back to the gym yet, just can't seem to get myself there, or even show any enthusiasm to go, I will, it is just a mind set I have to sort. I looked at myself in the mirror and I'm looking fat in all the wrong places which is depressing. I have got some ideas for recipes for losing weight so they are going to be tried for my dinners at work! Nigella does a great butternut squash and sweet potato soup with is really nice, so will do more of that!

The last few days my back has been playing up with the old injury I carry with it, I don't know what has set it off but it kept waking me up last night so I'm sat with a water bottle on my back warming it through and hopefully will sort it out! It's one thing after another, shows how unfit I am though! I was asked to go running last week from a guy I follow of Twitter, I declined but that is another goal to aim for, if I can get my arse out of the chair!

Start Afresh!

Finally got to the gym today, first time at Xercise4less in Hull and it's not a bad gym. Luckily when I walked in Amanda from Fitness First was there and we talked a little then she showed me where the changing rooms where. The place is huge with a lot of equipment but as she says it get's really busy around 6-8pm so they will be the times to avoid unless I just go to do some cardio. So today was just to see what I can do and managed 10 minutes on the cross trainer and the same on the treadmill. I went on one of the machines to work my legs but with barely some weight on just to move the knees and my legs are really stiff. Whilst I was talking to Amanda she noticed I'm hobbling a little but now I think it is more of a protection thing rather than an actual pain, so I got to work on that.

I tried to do some rowing but that was making my knee crack and so I stopped doing it, but will try again as it didn't actually hurt. So I think I'll carry on doing what I did at the last gym, have a good session over the weekend on my back and chest when I can get to the equipment easier. So I'm looking forward to getting back into the gym and I have missed it too!

Physio Day

Went to see the physio today and after some moving and pressing on my leg, she thinks I've got weakened muscle around my knee on the inner side. She found the area that hurts, pressed on it a lot and you could hear my knee cracking. She says that the weakened muscle is preventing my knee from moving in a straight line and is in fact moving at a slight angle, which is making the knee crack and is weak. So I have to go for an x-ray for my peace of mind she says and then I can start some physio with her to get the knee strengthened up again. She also aid there is no reason why I can't go back to the gym or start cycling again. So I plan to start the gym at the weekend, hopefully it will be a little quiet so that I can slowly get my knee working and the fact it is a new gym and got to get used to the place too! Can't wait!

Non Starter

This year so far has started out ok. Not been to the gym since September, health really been a bit iffy I guess as 3 months of getting over my virus that I had, my on going knee problem and the lack of will to get my fat arse down to the gym hasn't helped me at all. I am back at doctors this week (Wednesday) to get my knee sorted once and for all, the meds they gave me have stopped the pain but it is really weak and sporadic pain from it means there's no way I can stand and put pressure on my leg, stand on one leg or even think of running till I know once and for all what it is!

Talking gyms, I got my letter from Fitness First saying they are shutting the gym down in March which is a real shame, I started at the new gym but still have to set foot into the place, but I will. I know also how, once you set out on a diet and change the way you eat, it has to be forever, it has to be a way of life. I have noticed through my months of inactivity that the weight has come back on and I am struggling to get my head back into the idea of dieting again. All the crappy food from Christmas has gone and I am on a sort of healthy eating plan but need to really tighten it up and get it sorted.

Back on 5 day week again from this week, before Christmas we went on 3 days and I have had 2 weeks of 4 days but I needed it this week as I have had yet another heavy cold, but not as bad as the one I had which caused my virus problems. My goals this year are still the same, to lose weight, build muscle and to run and keep on cycling as well as I have not done much of that at all. I'm not impressed with myself at all, time for the proverbial kick up the arse!

Missing My Training And The Trainer

Steve, my trainer was injured playing football on Saturday and I got a text off him as we were due to train on Sunday saying he had done his ankle in and couldn't walk on it. This was about 7am, I'd been awake listening to my iPod anyhow but was still surprised about it, I wasn't going for a ride as I was thinking about what had been said on Friday night about too much cardio. So I went to the gym later and had a good workout and text Steve the next day and he had been given crutches, so it sounds like he is out of action for a while. It may sound selfish, but I'm really missing his workouts and him pushing me, I am trying as hard as I can to try and have a good workout, but the results will show soon I guess. I really hope he heals soon, I keep sending Reiki healing to him!

Talking of the gym, it was fairly busy tonight but managed to get on a bench, no matter what I did or where I stood I always seemed to be in the way, don't you hate that when it happens!

What Have I Done To Deserve This?

I wasn't sure if I wanted to put this in my blog or not. I've been thinking if I should want to be reminded or not of the last three weeks. Three weeks ago I had my bike stolen from outside of a shop, I had put 2 locks on it and they had gone through both locks around 10 minutes after I locked it up. I am still devastated as not only was it my maid mode of transport seeing I don't drive, I also went out for rides on it at the weekends. It cost me just short of £1000 and it was a fantastic bike to ride and I guess it has been sold by some scum of the earth crawling out of the gutter to sell it for drugs.

Trouble is now, I am waiting on the insurance company to see if they are going to pay for a new bike or not, they wanted the receipt or the packaging to the main lock I bought and to prove who I am (seeing I don't have a drivers licence or a passport). So I guess a big note to me and whoever should read this, make sure that you keep all receipts to everything you buy, you never know when you will need them. I also now know that I am being forced to get a passport just so I can prove who I am, how crazy is that?

Two weeks ago I fell at work and hit my face, wow did it hurt, but I smashed my glasses into my eyebrow and cut it, plus the pile at work I fell onto, the corners cut my face. Luckily for me it has healed really well and just a slight black eyelid is left but my face is still numb although I'm getting some feeling back slowly so I guess another week and I should be back to normal.

I've been on a three day week now for a while at work as the economy isn't very good and there's no sign of it getting any better. I'm doing 3 days next week, then the following 2 weeks up to my summer holidays we are on 4 days, which is to make sure that all the orders are taken care of for the shutdown of the factory. Money is tight and I'm working hard at clearing all my debts and taking care of the credit card, once this is sorted then hopefully I might be able to break into the black and save a little money. I have had to stop getting tattooed as the money is not there and until I get back into full time it might be next year before I get my back finished. It's all doom and gloom but I'm staying positive that things will change for the better!

I'm now back at the gym and finally it is beginning to show, I'm slowly getting some shape back and I'm feeling good despite of what's happened. I've been on a diet which is basically detoxing the body and eating as much vegetables and fruit as you can to give the body back all it's nutrients. They say that the body is starved of it's vital nutrients then it cannot do it's job of clearing out the body of all the toxins that are in it so it gets sluggish and they stay in. So I may end up with my dream of having a good healthy looking body!
